Ecatcher for macOS
Hi there,
I was just curious if there are any plans to release Ecatcher for macOS?
The browser based version (M2Web) does not do the job for me.
I need a VPN connection to my device(s).

Hi David,
I'm not aware of any plans for Ecatcher on macOS, other than the eCatcher mobile iOS app. Have you tried the iOS app?
We do not get many requests for this as macOS is not typically used in the industrial/automation field. Out of curiosity, do you have PLC software that runs on macOS? Can you let us know more about the use case?
Best Regards,
Kyle

Hi Kyle,
I tried using the eCatcher Mobile iOS app on my brand new Macbook, but I always get an error message telling me that my device is jailbroken, which it isn't.I'm not using any PLC software, no. I need Ecatcher to connect to a customer network so I can VNC onto a IPC.
If you want to look into the jailbreak problem, heres my System Information:
Macbook Pro M4
macOS Sequoia Version 15.2Kind Regards,
David

I will have to escalate this issue to the developers. I have seen it before, but I thought it was fixed. I'm going to convert this thread to a support ticket.

I'm getting the same "This device has been jailbroken. This app is not allowed." error message.
System: MacBook Pro, M4Pro, MacOS Sequoia 15.3. Definitively not jailbroken...0 -
Hi Christian, we are aware of this issue and have informed the developers. Unfortunately, I don't have a timeline on a fix. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hello, I am running on a brand new Mac Studio and am getting the same Jailbroken error on the iOS app, which subsequently closes the app immediately, preventing me from using it. Is it possible to remove this error check so that we can use the app?
I have a windows VM running which is why i need to use the Mac version of eCatcher.
Thanks,
Georges

Kyle Reynolds Following up on the question of whether there are plans to release eCatcher for Mac at some point, we use it to connect to PLCs at the company where I work, using virtual machines (VMware). However, there are times when we need to have two virtual machines running due to different software requirements, and it's necessary for the connection to be established on our main machine, which isn't currently possible. Best regards.

Hi Jaime,
I'm probably not the best person to answer this, but I am not aware of any plans to release a MacOS version of Ecatcher. We do have a new Ewon Cloud platform that is more web based, and having a version of that which works on Mac is probably a more likely scenario. Ewon Cloud does still require a Windows binary to be installed called the "Ewon Cloud Connector", but that may be something that is easier to develop for other OSs.
Sorry it's not better news for you.
Best Regards,
Kyle

Hello,
Any updates on this? We would also like to use the VPN connection with our Macs. I'm trying to run it in Parallels as a workaround, but experiencing issues there as well. I will try VMware as suggested above, but would be great with MacOS officially supported.
BR,
Simon
