Modbus Client PLC to Profinet PLC via Gateway
Hi, I have an Modicon M340 PLC (Modbus Client) which I need to communicate with a Wago 750-8215 PLC via Profinet. The Wago PLC is integral to machine and supplied by third party so I don't exactly have access to the program. I do however have GSDML file along with information on read/write data over Profinet from the equipment manufacturer. So they are basically treating the Wago PLC more like an IO device (like a VFD for example) than a PLC that we can modify.
Obviously I'll need a gateway to do this. Is it possible to use the ABC3213 (Modbus TCP Client - PROFIENT IO-Device) to act as a Profinet "master" to initiate the reads/write from the Wago PLC over Profinet without needing to make any changes to the Wago PLC program? Ie. Not needing to add a GSD/GSDML file to the Wago PLC in order for it to communicate with the gateway?

No, this wouldn't work as the ABC3213 has a PROFINET device (slave) interface. The Wago PLC would need to have the ABC3213 added as a module via its GSD file, and then the program would need to be adjusted to read/write to the gateway. We don't currently have any gateways with PROFINET controller interfaces that would work for this application. Are there any other protocols that the Wago PLC is using to expose its data?

Thanks for clarifying. I kind of figured the ABC3213 was a slave interface and would require it to be added to the PLC via GSD. Physically the PLC also appears to have Ethernet/IP and Modbus/TCP however the manufacturer has not set it up to integrate using those protocols, so that won't be an option.
