Cosy 131 3G with Verizon SIM card
We purchased this device a number of months ago and are just now getting around to setting it up. My first question is regarding the 3G phone service. Is this still a valid product, and I have been told carriers are phasing out 3G. Is this compatible with the current Verizon SIM cards?
Thanks

Hello,
Our Cosy devices do not support Verizon 3G CDMA Networks.
The 3G units are valid products, but not for 3G cellular. You can still use Ethernet to connect the devices to the Internet.

Hmmm.
So this product is essentially outdated as far as use with cellular access correct? It was sold to us about 6 months ago, just now getting it set up.Can it be used in conjunction with a Verizon wireless router (4G) and utilized that way? Is there a different configuration?
Thanks0 -
Hello,
Yes. You can purchase Verizon router to provide Internet to the device via Ethernet. There are no configurations that is required beyond selecting Ethernet in the Internet Wizard.

Hello,
I checked the purchase history of the device. It looks like this was sold to a distributor back in 2017.
Who did you purchase these devices from? Were they from a distributor, or resale?

We purchased it from Stanion Wholesale in Wichita, KS.

I have the Cosy 131 plugged into a Verizon hotspot, so far I am not getting it to communicate with the Talk2M.
I have done the setup and used a USB to configure the EWON.

Hello,
I would log in to the unit, and manually go through the Wizards.
If you are still getting a failure on the Talk2m Wizard, then supply a backup with support files. I can review the device to determine what the issue might be.

Ok.
Can you clarify what you mean by this being a valid 3G product?0 -
Hello,
You can still connect the Cosy via Ethernet to a network. This uses the WAN port on the Cosy 131, instead of the cellular modem. You will need to connect the Cosy, Via ethernet, to a network that has Internet.
If you are using a Verizon Cellular Router, it should be able to provide Internet to the Cosy via ethernet.

I sent you the files via email.

Hello,
I need the backup with support files. This can be done by connecting to the Cosy using eBuddy. The files you sent do not contain the information that I need.

Ok.
I am going through the manual setup, using IP address of 192.168.0.1, subnet 255.255.255.0. (My PLC is on 192.168.0.140)
What should the Default Gateway . And Primary DNS be set at?0 -
Are you trying to set up the WAN side?
If so, it will need to be on a different IP range and subnet than the LAN. The IP and default gateway is going to be what is required for the Cosy to have connection with the Router.
For your convenience, I have provided the link for the step by step process of configuring this unit.

We have contacted our local supplier for the EWON and they have agreed to exchange our Cosy 131 for a Flexy 205 and 4G Verizon module. We just received a message that the module is no longer available: > From: Kerry Clark <kclark@stanion.com>

Subject: Flexy moduleCindy, please be advised the HMS has discontinued the FLB3203_00 module that Jim was needing to go with the FLEXY205. He may want to call them back and see what they recommend.
Can your advise?

Hello,
The component could be on back order.
Unfortunately, i do not handle stock or availability. You will need to consult with the distributor, and/or our sales team.

Do you have any other product that provides cellular access to a PLC other than the Flexy205?
0 -
Hello,
For Verizon? Unfortunately no. The FLB3203 and Flexy line are the only devices that can utilize Verizon.

Is there a non Verizon cellular option that is available?

We do have 4G Cosy NA and Flexy 4G NA devices that utilize the rest of GSM networks such as AT&T.
As stated before, that is something to discuss with your distributor and/or sales team.
