Here is a list of common questions you might have about the Talk2m free plan.

Question: How do I create a Talk2m account?

To create a Talk2m account:

• Install the latest version of Ecatcher. (software download page)
• Open Ecatcher.
• Click the  "Create a Free+ Account" link.
• Enter the required information.
• Activate your account using the email you receive.

Question: What features are included in the Talk2m free plan?

Talk2m free includes:

• Unlimited Ewon devices and users
• 1 concurrent VPN connection
• 5 concurrent mobile/M2Web sessions
• 3 GB VPN traffic per month
• 5 million DataMailbox datapoints per month

To benefit from Talk2m free, you need to register at least one new Ewon device in Ecatcher every 12 months (*).

(*) A “new Ewon device” is a device never registered in Talk2m before.  Re-registering an existing device DOES NOT extend your Talk2m free subscription.

Question: How much does the Talk2m free plan cost?

As the name suggests, the Talk2m free plan costs nothing.

To benefit, however, you need to register at least one new Ewon device every 12 months. Once this period has elapsed without a new device having been registered, your account is suspended.

Question: What are the limits of the Talk2m free plan?

Talk2m free is our most basic plan. It lets you register an unlimited number of devices and users, but allows only one VPN connection at a time.

Talk2m free is limited to:

• 1 VPN connection at a time
• 3 GB VPN traffic per month
• 5 million datapoints per month

When a limit is reached, the account is capped until the next month.

The plan also requires registering one new Ewon device every 12 months. If no new device is registered, the account is suspended.

Reminder emails are sent starting 3 months before suspension.

How to check your last device registration date

Question: What happens if I hit the limits of the Talk2m free plan?

Once the monthly limit is reached, the account is capped until the next month.

The following actions are no longer possible:

• Connect to a device in Ecatcher
• Access a device on M2web or Ecatcher Mobile;
• Upload new data to the Talk2m DataMailbox service.

Administrators receive notifications at 80% and 100% usage.

If this happens frequently, consider upgrading to Talk2m light or Talk2m pro.

How to monitor VPN and DataMailbox usage 

Question: How can I increase my VPN traffic / data usage limits?

To increase your available VPN or DataMailbox capacity, upgrade to Talk2m light or Talk2m pro.

Talk2m light includes 2 concurrent VPN connections and a global SLA.

Talk2m pro provides extended limits, user groups, device pools and advanced user rights.

Question: How will I be notified if I’m approaching the limits?

Administrators receive email notifications and Ecatcher banner alerts at 80% and 100% of VPN or DataMailbox usage.

If this occurs frequently, upgrading to Talk2m light or Talk2m pro is recommended.

Question: Can I register multiple devices and stay on Talk2m free?

Yes. You can register multiple devices, but doing so does not extend the validity by 12 month. Talk2m free always expires 12 months after the last new device is added.

For managing multiple devices, Talk2m light or Talk2m pro is recommended as those services included multiple Concurrent connections, the ability to transfer more data, and a global Service Level Agreement (SLA). 

And with Talk2m pro, you can also define user groups and device pools with advanced user rights management.

Question: How do I upgrade from Talk2m free to Talk2m light or Talk2m pro?

• Open Ecatcher and log into your Talk2m account.
• Go to Account → Credit & Contract.
• Select “Request Talk2m pro…” and follow the steps.
• Restart Ecatcher.

You then have 3 months to confirm the upgrade by purchasing a refill. If no refill is purchased, the account returns to Talk2m free.

• use TM50041 (Talk2m pro Credit). This finalizes the Talk2m pro plan for your account.
• use TM50044 (Talk2m light Credit). This finalizes the Talk2m light plan for your account.
