Anybus X-Gateway – Profibus Master / EtherNet/IP Adapter: Data Stuck After Ethernet Loss
We recently started installing Anybus X-Gateways as a replacement for Prosoft MVI modules and are seeing unexpected behavior when testing loss of comms.
Setup
• Anybus X-Gateway (EtherNet/IP ↔ Profibus)
• PowerFlex 525 and PF40 VFDs on the Profibus side
• Run/Stop command comes from EtherNet/IP side through the gateway
• OFFLINE handling set to Clear on both Profibus and Ethernet sides
Issue
With normal comms, the drives start and run as expected.
When we disconnect the Ethernet cable to simulate Ethernet loss, the VFDs continue to run, even though the gateway shows offline and the offline option is configured to clear.
It appears the drives continue using the last received data instead of switching to cleared (safe) values.
Questions
• Does the X-Gateway actively transmit cleared output data on Profibus when Ethernet is lost, or does it simply stop updating the output image?
• Is there another parameter required to force the Profibus side into a STOP or zero-data state rather than holding the last known value?
Additional notes
• Same behavior on both PF525 and PF40 drives
• Offline handling verified in Configuration Manager
• Can provide part number, firmware, and .ddb if needed
Looking for guidance on how to guarantee a STOP on Ethernet loss when using Anybus X-Gateways.

Hi Charles
Please tell us which model of Anybus X-gateway you are using - the functions and settings differ between the models.
It may be better to help you in a support ticket so that you can send us your configuration files and we can advise on your particular installation.
Thanks
