If you are using DHCP, DHCP is going to automatically set the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway. That is not unique to eWON, but how DHCP works, so if you want to set these manually you will need to disable DHCP.

If you want the device to automatically switch to ethernet when WiFi is disconnected, you will need to set up failover in the Internet Wizard. When you set up the WiFi settings, it will ask if you want to set up a secondary connection, and you can set your ethernet network adapter up.

    Thanks Kyle,

My client has the following question regarding the failover:

I want to have Ethernet Internet connection setup as the primary and WiFi setup as the fallback, my question is after the unit has been in fallback mode, and then disconnected from WiFi, should the eWon go back to using primary if I plug in the WAN port connection? Or does the unit need a power cycle to use primary again? From what I am seeing is that the only way I can get it using primary again is if I power cycle the units.

    Regards,

You do not need to power cycle the unit. It will go back to the primary WAN automatically.

    Thanks Kyle,

    I have one more question,

I was wondering if there is a way to set the default gateway for the LAN ports, or is that even required? I see the option to set the IP address and the subnet mask for the LAN ports, just wondering if there is a default gateway somewhere too.

    Regards,

    John

    Hi John,

There is no way to set a default gateway on the LAN because the eWON itself is the default gateway for that subnet. In effect, when you set the eWONs LAN address, you are setting the default gw.

    Hi Kyle,

My client has tested the fallback for 2 Flexy's that he has and has noted that they will not connect back to WAN unless a power cycle is done.

    Are these units faulty?

Can you send me a copy of the configuration? Using eBuddy, go to Backup/Restore and check "Include Support Files".

I have received these files from the client. Is this what you need?

You may want to change these settings to get a quicker change over:

WANFbckMaxDuration:60 (Maximum time duration the secondary WAN interface will stay active before switching back the primary WAN interface in minutes)

WANFbckMinInterval:75 (Minimum time interval before another WAN fall back can occur after a previous one has already been triggered in minutes)

You can change these settings in the Internet Wizard:

Please reference the KB-0286 link in the previous post for more details.
