Alternate SMTP server method

My company needs to find an alternate email SMTP server. I have tried google mail but can't seem to get it to work. Please provide a recommendation and any additional information on how to get our alarm notifications out without using the talk2m SMTP server.

  The Ewon is incompatible with SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer, is an encryption-based Internet security protocol.

  
  It's the reason we provide our SMTP server relay.talk2m.com
   
  A few years ago, it was possible to use a custom SMTP server, but with the increase in security rules for any company, it's more and more not possible to do it.
