PLC requirements for a Ethercat link

I have a Rockwell 5069-L310ERS2 and a ABC4012-A Unit. I am trying to see if I also need a Ethercat PLC to operate a Omron R88D-XXX Ethercat drive.

  Hi Manuel,

  The ABC4012 has an EtherCAT SubDevice/slave interface, so it connects to an EtherCAT MainDevice/master like a PLC.

  To connect to an EtherCAT drive, you would need a device with an EtherCAT MainDevice/master interface. You could use an EtherCAT PLC with your current Anybus gateway, or you could use the ABC3107-A, which has interfaces to connect to your Rockwell PLC and to EtherCAT SubDevices/slaves.
