    Hi Santhoshkumar,

    Please be aware that from firmware 15 E-mail ( SMTP as a Client) sending over external e-mails/WAN connection is no longer supported. Only e-mail via Talk2m Relay is possible now.

    SMTP Client Feature (e-mail sending) is no longer supported:

    Ewon Flexy & Cosy131 – Feature Changes Introduced in Firmware 15.0 – HMS Support Portal

    Alternative over Talk2m Relay:

    Email & Text Messages (SMS) through the Talk2m SMTP Relay – HMS Support Portal

    Possible issues with the old Feature are:

    The SMTP implementation used an old SMTP standard many e-mail Provider are closing the old ports and requiring newer Versions to be able to connect. It is possible the e-mail provider blocked the Access due to security concerns. And the Date of the update just coincided with the date the a-mail provider stopped allowing the connection.

    If you have further questions and checked with the e-mail Provider if they still allow e-mails on port 25 then I recommend opening a Ticket and sharing your Backup File, but less and less e-mail providers allow this type of communication.

    Hello,

    We are using Ewon devices with **firmware 15xx** in our organization.

    Previously, we had **4 Ewons** connected locally through our office VLAN. We configured our **organization SMTP server**, and the devices were successfully sending alert emails based on alarm triggers.

    As per our company policy, we are **not allowed to connect the device to any cloud service or WAN outside our organization**. Therefore, **SMTP functionality is critical** for our use case. Without custom SMTP server support, we cannot use the Ewon effectively.

    Recently, I performed a **factory reset** on one Ewon device. After the reset:

    * The device **is pinging in point-to-point local connection**
    * But **it is not pinging when connected to the office VLAN**
    * I configured:

    * Static IP address
    * Subnet mask
    * However, I **did not find a default gateway option** in the usual location.
    * I entered the **default gateway address** in **Edit Communication Configuration**, but it still does not ping from the VLAN.
    * I also tried changing:

    `NatItf = 3`

    But after reboot, it automatically **reverts back to 0**.

    **Questions:**

    1. Where should the **default gateway** be configured correctly after factory reset?
    2. Why is `NatItf` reverting to 0 after reboot?
    3. Is there any additional configuration required to enable communication over VLAN after factory reset?
    4. Is there any limitation in firmware 15xx related to **custom SMTP server configuration** without cloud/WAN connectivity?

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Hi Santoshkumar!

    Here find the information on SMTP: SMTP only works if the Communication is inside a VPN tunnel. as of the update to 15.

    https://support.hms-networks.com/hc/en-us/articles/27421451305746-Ewon-Flexy-Cosy131-Feature-Changes-Introduced-in-Firmware-15-0#:~:text=the%20WAN%20interface.-,E)%20SMTP%20client,-Changes%3A

    NatItf:3 is the default setting 'plug and route' it should revert to 3 after a reset i believe. A reboot shouldn't change it. Only if you have a script or somthing set up that changes it automaticaly will it change.

    Default Gateway: The Wan settings can be set with the 'Internet' Wizard and the LAN settings with ebuddy for example but there are also other ways.

    Since you seem to have deeper questions on SMTP and VLAN's I will open a Ticket for you. In the Community Forum we can only answer basic question when time permits.

    The Ewon is a normal Ethernet Device on the VLAN and can work inside of it, but it is not a VLAN Managed Switch and does not have any VLAN capabilities.
