CompactCom M40 Module - EtherNet/IP; eds file crashes Studio 5000 Logix Designer

as per Title, after install eds file, adding a new module crashes Rockwell Logix Designer 5000.

Studio 5000 Logix Designer version 33.00 (CPR 9 SR 12)
Factory Talk Services Platform 6.40

  I'm not sure if this is the right file based on the name. The location may also differ for version 33. It should be named with the date and time of the crash and end in .log or .dmp.

  This is unlikely to be an EDS issue if this happens with all the EDS files, especially with Cognex too. I do know that this issue occurs on some versions of Logix or when paired with certain versions of FactoryTalk Services Platform. You will have to take a look at the support cases on the Rockwell site to see if there are issues, especially if you are using 33.00, with no minor revisions as there could be unresolved bugs.

  Does the crash log have more info about what happened? It should be at this file location:

  C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\Rockwell Automation\Studio 5000\Logix Designer\

  do not have any Rockwell Automation directory under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\

  I have same problem with all eds files from HMS and also some other brand like Cognex, but Cognex, for example, just release an AOP to upgrade old eds files.
