We will need a lot more information to be able to help you with this. Is it Modbus TCP or RTU? Local or remote? Which device is the master/slave? Are there any error messages? What have you tried? Etc.

Please read the following applicable documents and then let us know if you still have questions:

I'm using the Unity Pro simulator. So, it's Modbus TCP. I'm locally connected to the Flexy 205. What I did is simply specied the machine IP on the IOServer and specied the address of the register in the Tag.

I'm trying to verifyy if my connection with the flexy is ok. Just like in this topic: Modbus tool.
    But it's not working

Is the Unity Pro Simulator acting as a Modbus Server/Slave or a Master/Client? I think this is probably a case where you have 2 Masters. You have to set one up as a slave. This document shows how to publish tags in Modbus TCP (as a slave):

Make sure you have Server enabled and set a node id:

I'll be more clear. Here's the deal, I'm connected to the flexy 205 through one of the LAN ports. I have the modbus addresses it will be used in the poject and I need to show them working when I access the ewon through the web browser to my client. The web browser is the one in my computer where the tags are configured Ijust cant stablish a connection using modbus. What should I do? I dont want to use the Unity pro, what's your suggestion?

OK, so nevermind the last two posts. It sounds like you want the Flexy to be the Client/Master. What is the server/slave? There needs to be a server to poll.

What software can I use as a Modbus master?

The Flexy is a Modbus Master, but it can also act as a slave. Can you tell me what the point of the project is? You are trying to use Modbus to get tag values from what device?

If you don't currently have a slave, you'll have to use a simulator like ModRSsim. You can configure the slave on your PC and poll it from the Flexy.

If you don't currently have a master, you can use a Master Simulator like CAS Modbus Scanner and can publish tags from the Flexy to poll.

I have created the tags on the flexy and I have their modbus address. I need to comunicate with them. Because I will make a presentation to my client. He will just take the flexy and install in his network. But for now I just need to show him that the flexy is polling data from a modbus network.

So, should I stick with CAS Modbus Scanner, right?

  • Kyle Reynolds

Yes, I think so: but I'm confused by this:

Polling is what the master does, sends a read command to the slave and the slave returns the data:

The way you explained it above sounds like you want to poll the Flexy. If the Flexy has the data, it's the slave, and you want to use CAS Modbus Scanner.

Ok. I got it. I will have to write at the address and see the data at the Flexy. So, i will need a modbus slave. I'll try it.

I need to simulate a value to the tag in the first picture.

The IP address cannot be 127.0.0.1. That is a loopback address. If the slave simulator is running on your PC you need to use the IP address of your PC's network adapter. (The one that the Flexy is connected to.)
