Connect multiple modbus tcp devices over extended network?
if i have multiple Modbus/tcp servers connected in an Ethernet network, can i use a single AB9008 to act as the client over the network? Can it act as the server to multiple devices on the same network as the Modbus/tcp servers?

Hello @marklandesman,
The Client side of this device can connect to 64 Servers and is capable of transferring up to 256 bytes. The Client conforms for Modbus specification V1.1B
The server side allows multiple Client connections and can be on the same network as the master side. Each interface will have its own IP address. The Server side conforms to Modbus TCP v1.0.

Thanks. So, the particular devices are Basler electrical protection relays and they only accept 1 client. We have multiple devices that need to get data from them. Hence the need for the X-Gateway. All the devices are on 1 intranet and they all have unique IP addresses. Do I assign a new, second set of IP addresses in the gateway which are internally mapped to the Basler IP addresses? I would probably be able to answer this but I couldn't download the user manual due to a security scan issue on my network. Can I plug the client and server side of the gateway into two ports on the Ethernet switch? That sounds weird but it sounds workable since both sides can be on the same network.

For each device you are connecting to you will configure a server and the transactions to that device.
Yes, you will need to plug both interfaces into the switch.
