Remote IP Addressing of Linking Device
Is it possible to configure an HMS Anybus Linking device using a connection through an eWon?
Can you use Bootp? If so, how? No success so far.

Since bootp works on layer 2 the messages would not be sent.
I have heard of a linking device being set up through an eWon. Which linking device are you setting up? I will try a test here.

It is the Ethernet/Ip to Modbus TCP unit.

Hello @hornautomation,
It looks like you can configure the device though studio 5000 though the eCatcher but bootp does not work. With broadcast forwarder enabled, you can use our IPconfig tool to set an IP address on the linking device though eCatcher.

So I just need to download IPConfig tool and it will find it by MAC?

You will need to enable the broadcast forwarding feature for IPconfig to work but yes.
Here is the doc covering the set up.aug-0070-00-en-plc-discovery-through-talk2m.pdf
Take note that after you enable the feature in eCatcher you will want to set the firewall back down to standard.

I got forwarding on. I will test config tool now.

OK, I got that to work. Now when I set up a Modbus Server, what address do I use? Same as Ethernet/IP? Document lightly shows connecting cable to Modbus/TCP server on the bottom port labelled X2, correct?
I reviewed transaction and they seem dead. What am I missing:

You will be setting a second IP address for the modbus side from the menus it is not set with Ipconfig. You will want it to be in the same subnet as the Modbus Slave devices.
Yes it is in the X2.1 and X2.1 ports.
