If you haven't tried it yet, I would recommend the USB drive firmware reflash: How to update the firmware of an Ewon Cosy+ ? But if that doesn't work, you will have to return it.

Yes, with Talk2M Pro, you can create a group with limited permissions. See the Pools and Groups section in the Ecatcher help here: Pools Only admins should be able to see all the Ewons.
