Using both Cellular and Wan on a Cosy131 4g?
I have a customer that I have installed a Cell based cosy 131. I can connect and it works fine.
They want to use the NAT function of the WAN and LAN ports to be able to connect through their network without disturbing the Cell connection. I'm sure that this can be done, somehow.
I do not want to change the IP addresses on my system components, hence the reasoning for using the NAT. How do I do this and maintain access via the cell?

Hi Ron!
Unfortunately the Cosy & Flexy can only have one active WAN connection.
You can only setup a Fail save (Fallback) for when the Primary WAN connection doesn't work it will temporaryly try to connect through the Fallback solution.
More information on how to setup you can find the Link to the documentation here : WAN Connection Fallback.
If there is a local WAN availiable were the Cosy can get the internet from instead of the mobile connection. This would be the better solution for the internet connection. (Ethernet connection is normaly always better than mobile) As long as they allow the ewon to reach the nessessary ports and addresses.
If they do not wish to allow the Ewon access through their Network to the Internet, they could also connect via eCatcher to reach the devices behind the Ewon. Unfortunately while the Celular Connection is running the Ethernet WAN Port doesn't work.

So, are you saying, one can't use the cell connection via E-Catcher as a gateway for OEM remote support and the customer to use NAT via ethernet WAN port simultaneously for full time local access (No internet) to monitor and control the equipment?

Hi Ron,
Yes, the eWON (Cosy 131 or Flexy) can only have one WAN connection at a time, serving as its Internet connection. (That is the purpose of the WAN Port.) This means the deactivated WAN port cannot be used for other purposes (like local routing) while the active WAN connection is running.
If you configure the WAN connection to be mobile, the Ethernet WAN port will not be active. In a failover setup, switching to the Ethernet WAN port disables the mobile module, and vice versa.
Be cautious with security settings and Routing settings since they are for the Active WAN connection. Be especially cerfull for mobile WAN connections. The WANItfProt should remain at 1 (default) to avoid exposing the Cosy—and potentially the network behind it—to the Internet. This setting is typically not changed in the Cosy, as it requires FTP access.
While on the Flexy it's possible to configure this on the webpage, it is critical to handle these settings carefully. For Ethernet WAN with mobile failover, it’s best to avoid changing the WANItfProt setting from 1. If necessary, consider developing a script to adjust security settings when switching to mobile to ensure proper safeguards are in place.
