Do 4G sim cards require a static IP for remote access?
AnsweredWe have a standard EC310 Netbiter connected to a 4G router; the current SIM card in the router needs replacing and we have been asked if we require a static IP for the new SIM.
Does the SIM require a static IP to allow the remote access to function? We are unsure if the current SIM card has a static IP, but as we require remote access in emergencies, we need to order the correct SIM.

Hi MacsEngineer,
No, the Netbiter does not require a fixed IP for its SIM card.
A standard-sized SIM card, similar to those used in mobile phones, will suffice.
You will need a data plan for the SIM card, just like you would for a mobile phone (were you need it to enable internet access through your web browser) similiarly the Netbiter needs to access the internet to allow the exchange of Data and remote Access.
Additionally, SMS functionality is necessary for remote configuration of the connection.
Please ensure you disable the PIN as detailed in the documentation.
