ABC3013-A with S7-1200[Profinet]
CompletedHello all,
I'm looking to try and configure an Anybus Profinet gateway to mediate communications between a Siemens S7-1200 PLC (via profinet) and a modbus enabled device my company produces (via modbus). I've been able to work through the Anybus configuration on the modbus side, and all the registers look to be properly mapped, with each 2 byte register looking to be sending the correct data out to the profinet connection. (We're not presently sending any inputs to the device in this screenshot, because our inputs are reserved for manual controls)
The trouble has been in verifying this from the PLC side. For our purposes, any ability to read a modbus register on the PLC via profinet will be considered a success. Using Anybus's Profinet IO video (https://youtu.be/JQ2mh9uvsAY ) as a guide, I've installed the GSD file, established a link between the PLC and gateway, and have been able to program the device using a PC connected to the same gateway, indicating a successful connection. Once connected however, watching the data registers where all the mapped data should be sent returns only a wall of 0s, incongruent with what the Anybus configuration tool shows is being sent. Is there something we're missing in terms of being able to properly read that data over profinet? (This is our first time working with Siemens PLCs, and we're just interested in demonstrating an ability for our modbus registers to be read over an Anybus profinet gateway--so if it looks we've missed something silly in our setup, we probably have)

Hi Erik!
An update for who might face similar cases (this was analysed in a Ticket further)
If the Home screen shows:
Profinet in idle Mode. The PLC is not jet in run state.
Other issues, that could impact the Watchtable not showing anything, would be the difference between process image and periferal adresses. Depending on the PLC the process image might be very small and if the addresses assigned exceed the process image range they need to be adressed differently.
In this case the process image was big enough but it is good to keep in mind if there is trouble with the watchtable.
