This article describes how to switch from the internal CAN interface board to a USB-to-CAN V2, when the Window application is used on a laptop without PCIe slot.
CAN interface board, USB-to-CAN V2
My Windows application is now used on a laptop without PCIe slot. How can I switch from the internal CAN interface board to a USB-to-CAN V2?
The IXXAT VCI driver package supports all IXXAT CAN interface boards. The VCI programming interface is the same for all IXXAT CAN interfaces. Usually the board selection in the application automatically uses the first available IXXAT CAN interface board. So, no matter whether it is an internal PCI, PCIe, PCIe Mini or an external CANblue II, CAN@net/VCI or USB-to-CAN V2 – simply change the CAN interface and start your application. Usually there is no need to change your application.
If the used application supports only a certain IXXAT CAN interface board type or a certain serial number, e.g. due to any security reasons, you need to adapt the board selection in the application to either the new certain board or to auto-detection, if you wish to be more flexible. You can find a description in the VCI programming manual. Our technical services team will support you in case that any difficulties occur.
