ISSUE
If an Ewon Edge is offline, you may still need to configure it, export logs, or give it other commands
ANSWER
The Ewon Edge with Ethernet WAN uses DHCP by default so it should come online automatically (if connected to a network with a DHCP server and internet access). Even if it's a temporary setup to configure static IP settings, Wi-Fi, or cellular, it can be a very convenient way to get set up initially. Though, offline setup is still an option as described below.
The Ewon device configuration is done through Ewon Cloud regardless of the online/offline status. You will proceed as you normally would until it's time to apply the configuration. At this point you have 2 options:
- Use the Apply button to send the configuration to the device (This requires the Ewon to be online)
- Export the configuration and use a USB flash drive to apply it to the hardware (Typically used when the Ewon is offline)
Online
The Apply button can be found in the top right corner of the screen and it looks like this:
Offline
Here's how to use the USB method:
Click the three dots next to the Apply button, then Download configuration.
- After downloading the zipped file, extract it so that you have the folder inside named with this format: "ewon_xxxx-xxxx-xx" where "xxxx-xxxx-xx" represents the Ewon's serial number. This is what the Ewon Edge hardware will be looking for.
- Put the folder on a USB flash drive.
- With the Ewon Edge powered on, plug the flash drive in.
- The ACT LED will blink orange to indicate that it's processing the files. It may be solid red if it's also applying new firmware.
- When complete, the Ewon may have added logs to the flash drive for you to review from your PC in case of any issues.

Other commands
The principles described in this article also apply to other commands. For example, instead of requesting the logs for an online Ewon, you can download the command and use it on a flash drive to extract it from the hardware.
As shown below, the solid blue button will send the export command using the online connection while the white button will download the command for you to put on a flash drive.
