Article will outline the details on how to perform an Autotune for a PID module loop.
The included example was created for a Dual Loop PID card placed in the first slot.
Yours may be different in which all the tags as well as the module setup would need to be changed.
My example is setup for a K thermocouple and its setup to use Output 4 for Channel 2 Heat Power. You will want to set this up based on how you have yours wired up and what temperature sensing device your using.
Step 1 – Setup PID Module under the Modules tab under Hardware Configuration. Use the example file included. You need to change the file for your module location.
The red arrow shows where to change this. Select the slot your module is in for your system. Setup any other modules you may have in your system. In the example file the PID module is setup for slot 1.
Step 2- Commit the Hardware changes. Bottom left of screen you will see the word “Hardware” in red. Click that word, Hardware, and click Commit Changes.
You will also have the word “Errors” in red at the bottom. I will show how to fix that in the next slide.
Step 3 – Click I/O Modules at the bottom of the screen. Then right click Module 1 and rename it to PIDModule. This will fix the errors at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4 – Download the example file into your DA70.
Login to your DA70 using a web browser.
The example file has an IP address of 192.168.1.30.
Click Remote View
Step 5 – At this screen you next want to select Loop1 Autotune or Loop 2 Autotune.
For this article Im choosing Loop 2.
Step 6 – Follow the instructions at the bottom of the Autotune screen.
Notes: The Autotune Stop pushbutton will stop the autotune process and reset all internal bits. The Manual On button turns the Manual bit on and off. Leave it on to make sure the output doesn’t work accidentally.
Step 7 – As the autotune takes place you will see different indicator lights turn on and off on the right hand side of the screen.

Autotune done.
Looking from the beginning of the autotune cycle to the end, the Active and Autotune PID Values changed.
Also looking at the trending screen, you can see the two distinct cycles of the autotune cycle.
This completes the autotune of the PID card.
When the Autotune is complete it will move the Autotune PID parameters into the Active PID values.
If you want to switch between Autotune and User PID parameters turn on the ReqUserPID bit.
