Compatible Devices
Beckhoff Ethernet‑compatible devices supporting ADS/AMS
Verified Devices
BX9000‑0000
CX1020‑0111
Device Options
The programmer specifies the AMS Net ID Port for the ADS device
(typically 801 for CX devices) and the required TCP/IP settings.
In early versions of the driver, the Net IDs are fixed as the IP addresses of the controller and the ADS device with “.1.1” appended.
Later versions of the driver added a Target Net ID dialog.
The AMS Net ID can be entered directly or set automatically from the device IP address.
The Suffix field should remain set to 1.1, as other values are not implemented.

| Prefix | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| M | %M Memory (Group = 4020) | 1 |
| I | %I Input (Group = F021 / F020) | 2 |
| O | %Q Output (Group = F031 / F030) | 2 |
| RAS | Read ADS State | 3 |
| RDS | Read Device State | 4 |
| WC | Write Control (Send WCA + WCD) | 5 |
| WCA | ADS State | 5 |
| WCD | Device State | 5 |
| ERRV | Error Value in Response | 6 |
| ERRI | Item in Error | 6 |
Notes
- For M, individual bytes, words, and long values may be read.
The element value is always the byte address. Matching variable types is recommended to ensure correct byte order. - For I and O, bits and bytes may be selected. When reading large amounts of I/O, using bytes is recommended.
- RAS reads the ADS State.
- RDS reads the Device State.
- WC changes ADS and Device State. Values for WCA and WCD must be set before writing WC.
- ERRV stores the error code when a response error occurs.
- ERRI identifies the group and address causing the error.
Connecting to a CX‑1020 (Legacy Method)
Set the device to a fixed IP address.
Access the AMS Remote Manager and set the Local Computer field to the device IP address appended with “.1.1”.
Example:
If the device IP is 169.254.100.224, set the field to:
169.254.100.224.1.1
Cable Connection
A cross‑over Ethernet cable is required for direct connection.
