PLEASE NOTE:
The CUB4LP00 and the CUB4LC00 are both rated for Class I, DIV 2 Hazardous Locations.
The CUB5IB00 does not have the same Hazardous Rating. It does have NEMA4X rating.
When converting from the legacy CUB4CL unit to the current CUB5I there is an input signal range jumper under the rear cover that will need to be set for your application mA input level. Display scaling is also done via the front keypad not with scale potentiometers.
APPLICABLE PRODUCTS
CUB4CL20, CUB4CL40, CUB5IB00, CUB5IR00
PRE-REQUISITES
No HAZ MAT rating on the CUB5IB00 or the CUB5IR00 meters.
IN THIS ARTICLE
- Wiring conversion from Legacy CUB4CL to CUB5I panel meter
- Example input scaling procedure.
- Optional Program lockout function.
- Style applied input scaling method.
To complete the conversion of the legacy CUB4CL unit to current CUB5I units proceed as below.
- First if this application was using an input signal greater than 20 mA. Remove the rear cover of the CUB5I unit and set the input range jumper to the 200mA position. See CUB5I product manual document page 3 for details.
- Connect the signal + wire to the input+ terminal of the CUB5I unit.
- Connect the signal – wire to the common terminal of the CUB5I unit.
- Connect your power supply V+ wire to the +9-28 Vdc terminal of the CUB5I unit.
- Connect your power supply common wire to the PWR COM terminal of the CUB5I unit.
Optional Program Lockout
There is USR COM and USR terminal on the CUB5I unit. Those terminals when jumped together allow for a program lockout feature. When active the unit is in program lock mode. When removed you have normal program access. This mode can be setup by programming. Menu 1-INP, USER IN as a PLOC function. See page 7 of the CUB5I product manual. This is optional if a program disable feature is desired.
Example unit input scaling procedure
End user has a transducer with a 4-20 mA output and wants the display scale to read PSI. Pressure range of the transducer is 0-1000 PSI.
Unlike the legacy CUB4CL unit the CUB5I scales the input via firmware settings. Please see Page 7 of the CUB5I product manual. Menu 1-INP
Given the above example you would program as follows.
- Press and hold SEL button till you see Pro No
- Press RST once to see 1-INP
- Press SEL to see RANGE = 0.02A
- Press SEL to see DECPT = 0
- Press SEL to see OFSET = 0
- Press SEL to see FILTR = 1
- Press SEL to see BAND = 10
- Press SEL to see STYLE = KEY
- Press SEL to see INP1 = 4.000
- Press SEL to see DSP1 = 0
- Press SEL to see INP2 = 20.000
- Press SEL to see DSP2 = 1000
- Press SEL to see Pro No
- Press SEL to see END.
The above example was scaled using the STYLE KEY method. The end user knows the input signal type as well as the transducer range. If the signal type is known but not the range of the transducer. The CUB5I can be scaled using the APLY input signal level and then scaled to a known reference value using the STYLE APLY method. Please see page 7 of the CUB5I product manual.
