Where can I download the latest version of Crimson 3.2?
Can an existing Crimson 3.0/Crimson 3.1 configuration be converted to a Crimson 3.2?
- Yes. An existing Crimson 3.1 configuration can be upgraded to Crimson 3.2. To upgrade from Crimson 3.0, it must be first converted to Crimson 3.1, then again to Crimson 3.2. See the Tech Note below for reference:
Can E3 modules be configured with Crimson 3.2?
- No. E3 Modules are still configured with Crimson 3.1 or using the Web UI
What are the benefits of moving my current devices to Crimson 3.2?
- Crimson 3.2 is the preferred platform for future enhancements. Additional features and functionality include:

What is the System Web Server?
- The System Web Server allows the device configuration to be edited without the need for the Crimson configuration tool and provides numerous diagnostic tools that can be used to troubleshoot your system.
- Device information includes (and is not limited to) information such as Device Type, Firmware version, IP Address, and much more is readily available from the System Web Server.
- Users can now configure several sections using the System Web Server including the Hardware, System, Personalities, and Utilities.
- Ability to manage the device directly using features such as Force Reboot, Factory Reset, and Upload/Download configurations
- Extended Diagnostic, and Debugging features will truly simplify the deployment, testing, and installation process.
Is the System Web Server for FlexEdge identical to the System Web Server in the new Crimson 3.1 products?
- No, FlexEdge has some additional Networking and Diagnostic options.
Is the System Web Server enabled by default?
- No. The System Web Server is disabled by default on all devices except FlexEdge.
- To enable the System Web Server, go to Device Configuration → Services → Web Server
When will I need to use the new Login features?
- When logging into the System Web Server, and when loading configuration to devices from Crimson software.
What are the default login credentials?
- Username: admin
- Password: password
(It is highly recommended that the default login credentials be changed)
What are Device Personalities?
- Device personalities provide the ability to use a single Crimson configuration across multiple devices. (See Tech Note?)
How do I benefit from Six View Manager (SVM)?
- SVM is a device management software that will allow users to remotely manage, monitor, and configure many installed devices from a central location. Contact Sales for more information.
Will the Crimson 3.2 configuration layout change to adapt to the new features?

Yes, In the Navigation Pane you will now see a section called Device Configuration. The Device Configuration sections contains:
- Hardware Configuration
- System Configuration
- Device Personalities
- User Configuration sections.
These fields can also be accessed via the System Web Server.
- The Communication Section is now more stream-lined and focused on the Protocol setup, Connectors, Comms Ports & Services.
Note: This is a high-level summary. The images below demonstrate the Graphite HMI; features available will change slightly depending on the device you select.
Are there any other key changes to Crimson 3.2 to be aware of?
- Yes. Other changes include:
- In the Hardware Configuration Section, see options below:
- Find Device – Allows users to browse the network for connected Crimson 3.2 based devices
- Browse Device – Provides a quick action to connect to the System Web Server
- Use the Device Configuration → Modules
- Use Device Configuration → Security to add certificates as needed
- The Factory Reset button behavior is now used to override the Crimson 3.2 System webserver property.
- Pressing reset button for at least 3 seconds enables the system webserver
- A quick press and release of the reset button will disable the system webserver
Are software Groups/upgrades available for the migrated devices?
- No, the core functionality of all devices stays the same on Crimson 3.2
- Only FlexEdge has selectable Group options, (Group 1, 2, 3, and 4)
- DA10 supports Group 2 – Crimson Protocol Conversion
- DA30 & CR1000 and CR3000 Series HMIs support Group 3– Full Crimson Functionality
- Graphite Edge Controller supports Group 4 functionality – Crimson plus Crimson Control
- Graphite HMIs support Group 3 functionality by default and Group 4 functionality can be enabled on Crimson 3.2, but requires installation of a Crimson Control module on the actual HMI
Since Graphite HMI on Crimson 3.2 comes with Group 4 enabled, will I still need the Control module (GMCC) to use Crimson Control on Graphite?
- Yes. Crimson Control Module is still needed to use IEC-61131 languages.
