QUESTION
Will I be affected by changes to the Talk2m endpoints?
ANSWER
This issue pertains to the firewall that an Ewon needs to pass through on the local site in order to reach the Talk2m servers.
If you whitelisted the wildcard domain *.talk2m.com, you don't have to do anything since this rule will allow the Ewon to reach any of our servers that use the domain (or any subdomain of this one).
The issue is with sites that whitelisted individual server IP addresses or specific subdomains such as device.vpn28.talk2m.com. If that is the case, these addresses may become unreachable at the new address. You may not notice an effect immediately if by chance the Ewon doesn't use those servers but at any time it's possible that an outage or maintenance operation would require the Ewon to use them.
To resolve the issue you must do one of the following:
- Use the wildcard domain *.talk2m.com
- Whitelist the new addresses when they are announced
To keep track with the latest updates about this migration, we advise you to subscribe to our Talk2m Status page.
Each Talk2m VPN Endpoint (VPN #) migration will be individually announced in advance on the Talk2m Status page. To find out the Talk2m VPN Server your Ewon device is connecting to by default, open Ecatcher, select the Ewon device from the Device List, click the "Log" button, and search for the log displaying the VPN server - e.g. [vpnXX], where XX is the VPN server number.
