APPLICABLE PRODUCTS
- DALI Protocol Translators: (IN703DAL0640000, IN704DAL1280000).
QUESTION
What is the maximum number of DALI input devices supported per line in the new 700 Series?
ANSWER
The gateway supports up to 64 input devices per line, but please take into consideration this information:
- Some input devices, like push buttons, may have several instances, so they may count as several devices. By consulting the technical specifications of the devices of your project, you can get an idea of the number of instances they integrate and estimate the total number of input devices you can actually install.
- You must consider the current consumption of the ECGs and input devices you are integrating, too. The gateway guarantees 230 mA to the DALI line, but remember that you must leave 10% of that sum for future expansions or tolerance, so you actually have 207 mA. So, for example, you can install 16 sensors, each one with a consumption of 5 mA, and 63 ECGs, each one with a consumption of 2 mA (this is the maximum consumption for ECGs defined by the standard):
16 sensors * 5 mA + 63 ECGs * 2 mA = 206 mA
