This article describes how to assign the same name to PROFINET network when a new gateway is used to replace the old one.

QUESTION
Using a new gateway to replace the old one, they have the same configuration and IP address, Why can't establish the communication between the new gateway and PLC in PROFINET network?
ANSWER
In addition to use the same configuration as the old gateway, the new gateway needs to be assigned the same name to the PROFINET network as the old one.
You can assign the name to the gateway by Siemens PRONETA software. It can be downloaded from Siemens website.
(1) Use Ethernet cable to connect PC and gateway PROFINET port
(2) Run PRONETA software
(3) Select the gateway device
(4) Set the same name as the old gateway
Tips：
1）If you don't know the old gateway PROFINET name, you could get it by PRONETA as described above.
2）In some control system, you need use the same port as the old gateway if there was 2 ports in PROFINET side of gateway.
