Check Physical Connections
Physical Connections
- Check Ethernet Cables for any breaks in the line, loose cabling, and for potential electrostatic interference (power cables or other strong electromagnetic sources).
- If there is a switch, verify there is activity on LEDs. If it is a Layer 3 switch, make sure the ports are configured correctly and assigned to the correct VLAN.
- Check the smaller green LED on the Ewon's ethernet port for ethernet activity.
Check DHCP Server
- Verify that the DHCP server is operating correctly and assigning the correct information.
-
Verify that there are available DHCP addresses.
-
Try power cycling the DHCP server.
Ewon Configuration
- Verify that there is no overlap between the LAN IP range, and the DHCP assigned IP range. If the LAN IP range overlaps the DHCP range, then the WAN IP will not be assigned to the Ewon unit.
- Swap out the Ewon device with a known working unit to verify that original Ewon device is not faulty.
Firewall/Security
- Temporarily disable any firewalls that could be blocking the DHCP traffic.
- Run the Ewon Internet Wizard in the devices default state (after factory reset). This will prevent the configuration from preventing DHCP from working.
- Use Wireshark to capture traffic and identify any problems with the DHCP request/acknowledgement packets.
